TIU 31 DAY WORKOUT CHALLENGE : A FALL FAV!

Good morning!

I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted and it’s been driving me crazy! I’ve even written it out in my super awesome day designer, when to post and what about, yet it slips away. I feel like there’s not enough time in a day…between work, class, papers, studying, the boys and their activities, finding time to breathe…. I’m sure there’s a lot of you with me on this! Yeah…It’s that thing called life 🙂 but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

With my vacation creeping up in exactly a month, I thought what better way to start prepping “bikini bod”, with the Tone It Up 31 day challenge. I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty intense…but completely worth it.

It’s not just about exercising (I’ll get to that in a minute) but it’s also about eating the right meals, at the right time, and cutting out sugar (which for me has been pretty hard, with my strong love for chocolate).Yesterday while meal prepping I decided to make some of the TIU approved pumpkin muffins (so good and great for Meal 1 or 2 snack).

This is a breakdown of what my meals look like today >

M1: Scrambled egg with spinach and garlic, 2 bite size pumpkin muffins and cold brew coffee black

M2: ½ cup of Grapenuts with a handful of blueberries with 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk

M3: Sweet potato with 4oz of chicken

M4: 3 lean turkey roll ups with spicy mustard

M5: Baked veggies with garlic (by this meal I’m never too hungry)

During the course of the day not only is making sure you get in your five meals important, to speed up your metabolism, but water intake is very important also. Drinking half of your body weight in ounces is a must for so many reasons! I also choose to change it up a bit by adding fruit or spices to it. I’ve found by having a Polar sparkling flavored water, it cures my chocolate craving I’m having and also fills me up.

The Exercise Part

First thing in the morning *TIU Booty Call* 5 daily moves with 31 reps of each and 40 minute cardio. Setting my alarm clock 40 mins earlier than usual and going to bed 40 minutes earlier is a must. If you want it bad enough, you’ll make it work.

Hey I didn’t say it was easy BUT I feel amazing and that definitely makes up for it. If I can’t get in everything before the boys wake up, I make sure I at least get in 20 mins of cardio as soon as I wake. The 5 daily moves can be done before bed if that’s what works for you. I have to say last night after completing my “kettle booty workout” I don’t think I’ve ever slept so good 🙂

Hey followers! I hope you all are having a great Thursday! Today’s mantra is great for everyone. We can all benefit from several deep breaths and slow exhales to awaken our energy and start a new day with good vibes.

Today is the day I go to orientation and finalize my classes for this semester. It’s kind of an overwhelming feeling but amazing at the same time, to know I am going to be one step closer to the career I have wanted for so long. Here’s to taking lots of deep breaths, exhaling through any negativity or fear you have and gaining positive energy to create a new set of patterns that will make the happiest you!

What’s in the Bag of the “Plus 1” – Wedding Weekend

Hey!! I hope you all had a great 4th of July!

So it’s been some time since my last post – You know summer…it gets crazy with beach trips, weddings, bridal/baby showers and the list goes on 🙂

This past weekend we celebrated the love of a beautiful couple at one of the most gorgeous venues, The Lyman Estate Mansion also known as The Vale, a historic country house located in Waltham, MA on 37 acres of pure beauty.

Call me a “swooner” but there’s just something about an old Victorian mansion! The wedding was absolutely perfect filled with amazing people, music, food, the best tasting wines and of course, so much love.

Thursday night we had the rehearsal dinner, which was casual but somewhat dressy. I always over pack whenever I go somewhere, mainly because I change my mind way too often when it comes to clothes 🙂 There’s nothing wrong with having tons of options….right??? Who wants to be thousands of miles away and wishing you would have packed something?! 🙂 This was the perfect opportunity to wear my new stitch fix blouse with some gray skinnies dressed up with some heels.  IMG_7341

Friday night…wedding time! My boyfriend was in the wedding party and planned to be gone most of the day so I decided to hang around the hotel, hit up the gym and do some yoga before the wedding. Packing some yoga pants, comfy shorts, sports bra and some sneakers was a must!

Having trouble deciding what to wear to the wedding?? You can’t go wrong with the little black dress, heels and a bright necklace! Don’t forget pair of flip flops or flats to dance the night away with. Let loose and have some wine! Cheers

A Thursday Positive : Heartbeat

This couldn’t be any more on point… It’s totally me! I have been told so many times “you’re too nice” (to the people who don’t give it in return) and maybe that’s true. I used to hate hearing it over and over and then get walked all over. Through the years I have come to realize there is a happy medium. It is OK to love and forgive but also, it’s not OK to let others hurt you. You are not a human punching bag…and you will not keep letting other’s burn you. You just have to learn from it, remember how it makes you feel and move forward with the biggest heart and a shield on the side 🙂 Why should I change who I am because of another person’s negativity?? DON’T! Stay strong and be you! That’s what’s beautiful. AND DO SOME YOGA!

This card couldn’t have come at a better time for me. It’s perfect! I’m on this journey to a healthier me and it’s not always glamorous…that’s for sure. I am on the final week of my BBG beginner training and then on to the real deal 🙂 . It’s been said that hitting the four week mark you tend to feel your motivation start to slip away…which is so true. Sometimes (well…most of the time) I am so impatient. This just reminds me to think of where I want to be and I will get there with consistency and hard work. Not today…not tomorrow, but I WILL get there and YOU will too no matter what massive journey you are on. Have faith and patience (I’m trying 🙂 ) and GET TO IT!

Daily Affirmators!

Good morning!!

So let me start off by saying IT’S FINALLY FRIDAY!! 🙂 That’s something to be excited about! Every morning when I get to work, the girls and I pick a card, whether it’s daily affirmators, power thoughts, law of attraction, the answer is simple, the “E CARDS” the energy kind, all of these cards give something positive to take with you throughout the day. My favorite to pick from is the AFFIRMATORS because they seem to be pretty on point and usually get a chuckle out of me….and those of you who know me know how much I love to laugh!

LISS vs Pomeranian with ADHD

Yesterday…Wednesday….the day I don’t look forward to…the day I drop my boys off with their dad for the next 3 days. Though, it does make it easier knowing they are having fun at their dad’s. So keeping busy is a must! Which isn’t hard when it comes to work, errands, cleaning, working out and throwing in a date night or two with my guy.

Last night I had a couple hours to myself, which doesn’t happen often, before I met my guy for sushi at one of my favorite sushi places in town. (eeek, spicy tuna roll here I come!!)

But first, time to get in my LISS for the day.

LISS (Low Intensity Steady State // cardio // example : walking)

Trying to accomplish LISS with a Pomeranian who has ADHD can be pretty problematic to say the least.

Cocomo….what’s a Cocomo you ask??? That is my 3 year old wild Pomeranian with ADHD! From the time he wakes up until the time we go to bed he is constantly going! He loves the outside and we are currently trying to leash train him so he can come walking with us. Perfect time to take him with me on my 37 minute walk.

We started out great, he was prancing right along (he really prances – people actually stop and ask if he is show dog…haha no, definitely not, but thanks 🙂 ). Of course, once we get on the trail he needs to lift his leg on everything he spots. Half way through our walk he stops dead in his tracks! SQUIRREL! Of course he would find a squirrel and want to play with it….Our entire walk was STOP. GO. STOP. GO (not exactly keeping a “steady state”) looking for that squirrel. 2 miles later he had enough…couldn’t get him to move an inch. For the first time Cocomo was tired! I couldn’t believe it.

I only had a couple minutes left of LISS so I bribed him with a treat. He has never run so fast! I managed to get in about 500 more steps than usual from chasing after him to the house. Next time I’ll be bringing the treats with me!

On the road to a healthier me!

It started when I noticed Kayla Itsine’s BBG program on Instagram. I couldn’t get over the results I was seeing from some of the people I followed that had joined her program! I’m at a point where I don’t want to diet to lose weight and get “skinny” but I want to become strong and lean. I have never been overweight but I’m sick and tired of feeling bloated all the time like I drank tons of soda when I don’t even drink soda or having no energy at all.

Energy is definitely needed when you are a mum of two very active boys 🙂

It’s not like I was binging on Oreos and Ramen Noodles but pasta and bread were definitely a comfort food and eating my cravings turned into a daily thing. Skipping breakfast here and there or sometimes lunch and not keeping hydrated (yeah, bad…I didn’t realize what I was doing to my body). After reading why we crave the things we do, I figured why not try drinking more water (keeping 8 glasses of 8 ounces at the minimum and pushing myself to exceed that) and suck up drinking those awful protein shakes I have tried and see what happens.

Point is, I have found a protein powder I like (no gritty texture that I can’t swallow) and that seems to hold me over until my morning snack. I do have more energy! I have put my BBG app to use (currently on beginner week 2) exercising every day and adding in my yoga at the end of the day to help me unwind. I know I’m not too far into it but I think for me I wanted to see some sort of result to prove “yeah, this will work and I have faith I will get where I want to be…feeling better physically and mentally.”

 

This goal that I have seems to finally be a motivation! It’s amazing to think by working out daily and eating right I have so much more energy and not feeling bloated at all not to mention I am more positive…happy! Crazy to think I am actually looking forward to my next work out!
